🛶 The Thonburi Klong Edit
⛵ Cross-river public boat — the local way across the Chao Phraya -- Short, scenic, and sets the tone. Board alongside Bangkok residents headed to the same bank.
🏯 Wat Kalayanamit — grand, historic, and genuinely off the radar -- One of Thonburi’s most impressive temples. A giant golden Buddha inside, weathered courtyards, and stories your guide knows well.
🛶 Into the canals — Khlong Bang Luang and Khlong Mon -- Wooden houses, monks, overhanging trees. The Bangkok that built itself before the roads arrived.
🏛️ Wat Paknam — Bangkok’s Big Buddha, seen from the water -- A 69-metre golden Buddha rising straight up from the klong. No stop needed — the view from the boat says everything.
🎨 Baan Silapin — the Artist House -- A 200-year-old teak house, still working as an art space. Browse, wander, feed the fish from the dock.
🌸 Pak Khlong Talat — Bangkok’s famous flower market -- Marigolds, jasmine, lotus. Finish with a lotus folding activity — yours to keep.
Bangkok’s canals are where the city breathes. This 3–4 hour journey takes you deep into Thonburi by longtail boat — a riverside temple, hidden waterways, a view of the Big Buddha from the water, and a canal-side art house that most visitors never find.
